Postoffice Amsterdam worked in close collaboration with Alfred International to make the cow as believable as possible. We are pushing the boundaries of our VFX department further and further every time. The Melkunie cow is helping the girls picking oranges for the fruitiest Milk & Fruit from The Netherlands. He has to climb on a ladder and this is something that couldn’t be achieved without our VFX. We continued our work on the 100% CG cow from the previous commercials to make him ladder-climbing ready.
We already gathered a large amount of reference material from the previous Melkunie commercials which was very important for our team to create a believable cow. One of the more difficult aspects was the creation of the hair. We used Yeti in combination with the V-Ray hair shader. Using HDRI lighting information we had collected on set in Capetown, meant we could re-create the lighting scenarios of the orchard back in CG. This was very important to make the cow integrate well into the shot.
Our 3D department will continue developing our animal pipeline to be ready for your next job.
